FAQ

What is Unlock Hanzi?

Unlock Hanzi shows one Chinese word at a time — pinyin, characters, and meaning — on your Lock Screen. You practice writing it in the app, then tap Learned to move on to the next word. Learning is self-paced: the word never changes until you say so.

Which words are included?

5,000+ words from the official HSK word list, ordered from HSK 1 to HSK 6.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. The app works fully offline. No data collected at all.

How do I add the Lock Screen widget?

  1. Touch and hold your Lock Screen, then tap Customize.
  2. Select the Lock Screen, then tap the widget area.
  3. Find Unlock Hanzi and add the widget.

The widget doesn’t show the current word / doesn’t update.

The widget updates when you tap Learned in the app. If it looks out of date, open the app once — this refreshes it. Removing and re-adding the widget also helps.

How does the word advance?
